Details of Cow Bone Beads:
African Bone Beads are made in Kenya, Ghana and other African countries. The process of carving Cow Bone for jewellery began centuries ago in Africa. Cows are a sign of wealth in African culture, and so the wearing of cow bone is associated with wealth and prosperity. The bones are carved into white beads, then died with a natural dye to create the black and white design. This method is known as "batik", which is a wax relief process. These African beads are elegant and unique. Non is exactly like the other. Many beaders use these beads as the highlight of their creation. (Source Google)
Eco-Friendly
If there is one thing the natives of Africa are renowned for, it's resourcefulness. A classical example of this in relation to handmade products are the Cow Bone Beads, Clay Beads from Kenya or Cowrie Shells. These are all natural elements of the earth and can be considered as eco-friendly. The definition of eco-friendly to some is ethical products as those not created from any animal derivatives, be it bone, hide or horn. To others, materials derived from animals may be classed as "ethically acceptable", providing the animal's carcass is used in its entirety and/ or it was killed in a humane manner/ died of natural causes. So why is all this relative to the Bone Beads from Kenya, of which our beautiful and unique Jewellery are made from?
- All Bone Beads, ranging from the Batik Beads, to the Fish Bone Beads are sourced directly from Kenya, Africa.
- By supporting worthy efforts within such areas, we contribute to sustaining the ethics and environmental values of the people whom create such products.
Because all products are sourced direct from the artisans, we can be certain that:
- No animals are killed purely for bone or other derivatives used to create Bone Beads. It is elderly cattle and those whom die from natural causes that are used.
- The welfare of animals whose bone may be used is of a consistent standard that we can be assured meets our ethical values. ✅ If you are interested in purchasing our beautiful Bone Bead Jewellery, please take into consideration the lack of environmental impact that natural Beads create.
